Lamberto Ballan is a senior postdoctoral researcher at the University of Florence, Italy, and Stanford University, supported by a prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Commission under the FP7-2013-IOF programme. He received his Ph.D. in computer engineering, multimedia and telecommunication in 2011 from the University of Florence. He also spent a short period at the Signal and Image Processing department at Telecom ParisTech (France) in 2010. His research interests lie at the boundary of computer vision and multimedia, specifically focused on exploiting big data for visual recognition problems.
